The 2036 Presidential Campaign remains a close race. Sonny Akmar-Mohammad leads by only a 1.7% margin over Damon Kingsley. Alvin Khaled is still in the race, only 3.3% behind the lead in the popular vote.
No candidate made a significant move from last week's poll. Govenor Khaled was up 0.3% from last week. Kingsley remained steady. Sonny Akmar-Mohammad lost ground, down 0.4%. Akmar-Mohammad has locked up the most electorial votes, 100, with decisive leads in 5 states, including the key state of California. Govenor Khaled has secured the second most electorial votes, 12, with a sizable lead in Massachusetts. Senator Kingsley trails all candidates in projected electorial votes with 4. Illinois, Colorado and Oregon are shaping up to be key battle ground states. In Illinois, Alvin Khaled is in front of Akmar-Mohammad by a small margin of 1.6%. Colorado is in a near tie between Akmar-Mohammad and Alvin Khaled. Akmar-Mohammad leads Senator Kingsley by 4.5% in Oregon. The incident with the Little Dixie Players and last week's request by South Missouri Muslims request for protection underlines the stress in the border regions and raised the specter of outright war again. Each of the presidential candidates offered their thoughts. "Brothers and sisters, you have read, we all have read about the atrocities committed against our kin in the Bible Belt," Sonny Akmar-Mohammad said. "I propose that we go defend them by any means necessary - the Army, the Fedayeen, however. This, we owe them. And the lives lost in that, they are lost in noble purpose and shall have perfumed virgins waiting for them in Paradise. But I cannot endorse an all-out war. It is too costly. Let Allah's fist be stealthy and powerful where it lands." "We need to think outside the box on the 'foreigners in their own land' issue, in general and the Missouri situation in particular." Damon Kingsley said. "I propose a compromise. We set a week, and in that week, any Christians who want to go south can, and any Muslims who want to go north can. It is far better than fighting and far more effective than words." Govenor Khaled also expressed a strong stance while avoiding war was the best alternative.
