How the West Was Won, the Creation of the Islamic States of America Excerpt final paper, Ninth Grade American History (honors) by Sarah Dougan bin-Assan The most contentious question in American history is how the former United States of America became a moderate Islamic nation less than twenty years after the conquest of Baghdad. Even given the profound spiritual revival that swept across the United States post-Iraq, the suddenness of the transformation is still startling. The televised image of President-elect Damon Kingsley being sworn into office with one hand on the holy Quran while the Grand Mufti of Seattle administered the oath, was a moral triumph that even the most devout could not have predicted. Some historians give weight to the violent jihad theory of cultural change, believing that attacks by Osama bin Laden, al-Qaida, Islamic Jihad, Ansar al-Islam, Sons of the Prophet, et al, led irrevocably to the collapse of the U.S. empire. Jihadi theorists trace the start of the campaign with the 9-11 attack of 2001, an action that not only crashed the American economy, but also revealed the weakness of the technologically superior West to martyrdom operations. This is a distinct minority viewpoint. Most scholars contend that the damage from 9-11 to the American economy was short lived, and the rapid destruction of Muslim regimes in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, proved that martyrdom operations, while mettlesome, were ultimately futile against the West. Neo-Jihadis attempt to reconcile these facts by declaring that the destruction of these Muslim regimes was actually positive, forcing jihadis to relocate to new areas where they found fresh disciples, particularly, in France, Italy, Great Britain and Germany. There is some evidence for this. With a negative birthrate since the 1970s, the European welfare states required young people to support the old, and so they required immigration to fill the role. Disciplined Muslims flooded into Europe, had large families and kept the faith. Rather than depending on violence, the neo-jihadis offered a simple demographic model for conquest. By 2018 France was 20 percent Muslim, and over half of the population under the age of 26 were believers. The pattern was similar all over western Europe, where the native people were so devoid of sprit that they could not bring themselves to procreate, spending their days watching soap operas, listening to filthy music and seeking peace through drugs, rather than through prayer. Though the jihadi attacks had little direct, long-term impact on the United States, the true importance of the 9-11 martyrdom was that it induced the former regime to over-extend itself in fruitless and expensive military engagements around the world. The economic consequences of this U.S. response were profound and long lasting. After all their triumphs in the Islamic homeland, the Crusaders were no safer than before, but instead were drained of capital, manpower and, most importantly, will. While the military dominance of the U.S. government after 9-11 made the West arrogant, it had exactly the opposite effect on a small group of influential Saudi princes, keepers of the two holiest sites of Islam and followers of the most conservative form of the faith. In light of the West's technological superiority, these princes, who had previously, and covertly, supported jihadi operations, now decided to pursue non-violent methods of conquest. (See the fatwa of Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul-Aziz al-Sheikh, the Kingdom's highest religious authority on August, 13, 2003, in which he explicitly condemned those who committed "acts of violent sabotage and depravity, like bombings and murder and destruction of property.") This decision by the princes was not without its detractors, and indeed, for a time, the Kingdom itself was in danger of being overthrown. In the end, religious and political leaders came to a righteous accommodation on what came to be known as "bloodless jihad." Bloodless jihad was not a new tactic for believers. For twenty years prior to the attack on the twin towers, the Saudi Kingdom had funded the building of mosques across the United States. Perhaps even more importantly, the Saudis had funded the creation of Islamic social clubs in American high schools and universities, giving students of all backgrounds the opportunity to learn the truth of Islam. These expenditures increased dramatically after the U.S. military successes. It proved to be a wise decision. These native-born students, their eyes and hearts opened, went on to become productive members of the U.S. military, government, and business. At the same time, non-Muslims of good intentions - politicians, journalists and advertising leaders - were rewarded with generous contracts, gifts and honorariums. When the U.S. troops trickled home from their wars of conquest, the former regime was confronted by a prolonged economic downturn, and a jobless recovery that only exacerbated the gap between rich and poor. A cruel, godless Capitalism sent an increasing number of jobs overseas, where labor costs were cheaper, leaving millions at home unemployed, and embittered. Unlike education in Muslim nations, God was not allowed to be spoken of in American schools, and the children and adults could draw no moral sustenance from a permissive culture that celebrated violence, immorality and materialism. As the recession deepened, class warfare and recriminations further weakened the fabric of national unity, with thousands killed in job riots and whole cities torched. The Great Zionist Betrayal of 2013 brought on a total economic collapse, with rumors and disinformation almost as destructive as the attack itself. When martial law was lifted three years later, the economic recovery was still tenuous, the government distrusted and, most important, the people were spiritually desperate. Western religion was ineffective, its churches, rather than being a source of virtue and consistency, were weak and vacillating, acquiescent to the most extreme forms of modernism. Islam offered a bright light and a clear answer. The faithful could not build mosques fast enough to satisfy the need. While no force of arms could defeat the armies of the West, it was their moral and spiritual void that ultimately vanquished them. After the end of martial law, a new generation of pragmatic, modern American Muslim leaders stressed the importance of transforming the popular culture, as a means of affecting the larger population. Thanks to the generous funding of the Kingdom and other Islamic governments, a 24-hour Islamic television network was started, and offered free to cable television operators. Budgets were virtually unlimited, and the programming, geared to a young, non-Muslim American audience, was a mix of innovative computer graphics, top entertainers, cartoons, and, perhaps most importantly, interviews with entertainers and sports stars who had converted to the true faith. The most important of these conversions was the public embrace of Islam by Jill Stanton at the Academy Awards, February 7, 2012. Jill Stanton gave her declaration of faith as she received the Academy Award for Best Actress. Her declaration coincided with her announcement of marriage to Mukumbe Otan, a devout Muslim, and center for the world champion (basketball) Los Angeles Lakers. Within days, Shania X, the most-popular country music recording star in the world, made her declaration of faith at the Grand Ol' Opry. A week later, three major movie stars declared their submission to the faith, followed by the entire ensemble cast of the top rated television series, necessitating a radical shift of the story line. These high profile conversions created a cascade effect and, within months, thousands, then tens of thousands, then hundreds of thousands of young people were crowding the mosques and studying the holy Qu'ran. Though traditionalists were hesitant to place much value on these new, and untested converts, cosmopolitan American Muslims considered them valuable seed. The public declarations of Jill Stanton, and Shania X were the tipping point for the spiritual renewal that eventually led to the creation of the Islamic States of America five years later (2017). The marriage of Jill Stanton and Mukumbe Otan, white and black, spoke to the transformative power of Islam over racism, the deepest wound of the West, which all their churches and technology could not staunch. Islam was the balm that healed, a message silently shouted every time their faces appeared on television or on the cover of a magazine. Millions looked at them and wondered, if Islam could sooth the ache of racism, could it not feed the gnawing, restless hunger of America's dispossessed, America's lost and lonely masses? The answer was yes. Despite the nobility of our cause, violent jihad alone could never defeat the West. It was the flowering rose at the heart of Islam that gave us victory. This is not to say that the moral reawakening of the American public made the transition to a Muslim state inevitable and without conflict. The period of martial law was marked by great violence, and when civilian control was restored, there was bitter debate over the new constitution proposed by the Islamic plurality. Right-wing radio and television networks fomented lies and fantasies, and assassination became a hallmark of the Christian resistance. Finally, after losing a disputed national election, leaders of the former regime, along with vast numbers of traditional Catholics and fundamentalist Christians, migrated to an arc of ten Southern states formerly known as the "Bible Belt," and declared their independence. This new nation, with its capital in Atlanta, was heavily armed and hostile, dotted with military bases and their attendant tactical nukes. After several years of attacks along the rough borders, both sides determined that victory was unlikely without tens of millions of casualties. After mutual assurances that neither had any territorial ambitions on the other, a cease-fire was signed. Other than ongoing military activities in the states of Utah, Colorado and Wyoming, the rest of the former U.S.A. was now the Islamic States of America, with its capital in Seattle, Washington. Grade/Teachers comment---- F/ Good examination of some of the elements leading to the national awakening, including your rather unique focus on popular culture, but you almost completely ignore the single most important aspect of our history. Even with the economic and spiritual dislocation of the West, none of these would have insured the success of the faithful without the Great Zionist Betrayal, an act of perfidy so profound that only divine will could have turned such monstrosity to the advantage of Muslims everywhere. By focusing on the sociological and economic factors, and mentioning the great Zionist betrayal almost as a footnote, your paper is both deficient in fact, and borders on a willful insult to the faith. Sarah, what were you thinking? You are my best student, and this modernistic, juvenile approach is unworthy of you. I will contact your uncle to set up a meeting where we can discuss this matter. In the meantime, please rewrite your paper and submit it next Monday. Your final grade will have one letter-value deducted. May the blessings of Allah be upon you and your family. |
